Nutritious Daal Dosa

Since my childhood days, my mom made it sure that all sorts of daals were an important part of our daily diet. Right from the regular tuar daal ( तुअर दाल ) to moong daal (मूंग दाल) she tried to add different flavors to it so that we ate them all with equal interest . So as such am quite fond of all varieties of daal. As a matter of fact , my hubby is never interested in having daal and always comes up with various reason to avoid them. So this  time i thought of making something which not only gives the nutrition of daal but is also easy to cook and tasty. So i decided to make 'Daal Dosa'. This is quite similar to a south-indian dish called Pesarattu which is made up of moong daal and rice. Taking a step ahead, i added 2 more daals to it.

Ingredients:
Whole Moong : 1 small katori
Chana Daal: 1/2 katori(small)
Yellow Moong Daal: 1/2 katori(small)
Rice: 1 small katori
Rice floor: 1 tblspn
Turmeric Powder- 1 teaspoon
Green Chillies(finely chopped)- 4-5
Ginger
Fennel Seeds(सौंफ )- 1 tspn
Salt to taste
Oil

Method:
  • Mix all three daals and rice and soak them in water for 4 hours.
  • Grind with chillies and ginger. Add salt while grinding so that it blends well with the batter.
  • Add some chopped chillies , fennel seeds , turmeric powder and chopped coriander to the batter.
  • I have also added rice floor to make them crisp.
  • Heat pan or griddle with little oil and spread the batter in circular motion to make a thin dosa.

  • Serve hot with green chutney (will share the recipe of chutney in the next post)or tomato sauce.
  • You can also add chopped onions or grated cabbage to make it more nutritious.
So pack it for lunch today :-)
