Tomato Chatni (टमाटर की चटनी )

Hello all :-)) hope you guys are enjoying the gulabi thand of the season . Mausam koi bhi ho, we Indians always like to have yummy food with different flavours .I am pretty sure that our country offers the maximum number of methods to cook a particular dish. Now if we talk about this Tomato Chatni , there are so many ways to make it and believe me ,every recipe adds a new aroma. This time i have tried making it the 'south-indian' way .Here comes the recipe:


Ingredients :
  • 4 ripe red Tomatoes -cubed
  • 2 medium Onions -Sliced
  • 3-4 green chillies -chopped
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida 
  • Oil-1 teaspoon
  • Salt and Red Chilli Powder to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
For seasoning:
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
Preparation Time :  20 minutes

Serves : 4

Method:
  • Heat one teaspoon oil in a pan and add chillies ,tomato cubes, sliced onions and garlic.Saute till all ingredients are tender.
  • Let it cool down . 
  • Add salt, sugar, chilli powder and grind to paste.
  • For the seasoning , heat oil and add asafoetida ,mustard seeds and turmeric powder.When the mustard seeds stop spluttering , add it to the paste.
  • Mix well .
  • You can serve this with hot Pakoda , Dosa, Puri ,Chapati or even Dal Rice.
