Moong Dal Lachcha Paratha(मूंग दाल लच्छा परांठा)
Parathas are an integral part of the Indian Platter. Be it the Aalu Paratha , the Methi Paratha or the stuffed variety , we Indians have a fetish for these flatbreads and love eating them with accompaniments like chutney , sauce or plain curds. For quite a long time , i wanted to try my hands on Lachcha Paratha which very popular in North India.. I got to know about the basic method / steps from my Sister-in-law. I thought of experimenting further and so thought of making it a stuffed one. Had kept some boiled Moong Dal in the fridge which i have used for the stuffing. Here's the recipe:
Ingredients:
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Serves : 2-3
Method:
Ingredients:
- Wheat Flour- 3 medium bowls
- 2 teaspoon oil
- Chaat Masala
- Cooked Moong Dal - 2 medium bowls
- Ginger-Garlic Paste- 1 tablespoon
- Chopped Coriander
- Salt to taste
- Oil to roast the paratha
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Serves : 2-3
Method:
- Mix the flour, 1 spoon salt and 2 teaspoon oil and knead it with water to make a smooth dough. Keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.
- Mix the cooked moong dal , salt, ginger-garlic paste and chopped coriander in a bowl. Mash it properly and keep aside.
- Take a small portion of the dough ,roll it into round shape and make a disc of approx. 4-5 inch.
- Apply 1 teaspoon oil on it.
- Sprinkle 1 teaspoon Chaat Masala on it .
- Now spread a layer of the moong dal stuffing evenly .
- Roll the disc gently .
- Apply some oil on the roll and sprinkle some chat masala again. Now roll it to form a ball which ideally looks like a 'chakra'.
- Press it a bit and roll it with gentle hands on the rolling board , making sure the layers remain intact.
- Heat the griddle .
- Roast the paratha from both the side till it becomes brown and crisp.
- Serve hot with pickle , sauce or curds.
You can make the stuffing with paneer, chopped methi or can keep it simple with dry masala. The 'सादा लच्छा परांठा ' also tastes great with aalu sabzi . So try this today and do revert with your feedback & comments !
HAPPY COOKING !
