Raw Tomato Chatni
If given a choice in veggies, tomato is the last thing on my mind. Though tomato is an integral part of quite a few salad recipes which i make frequently, tomatoes in a cooked form is an absolute NO NO for me. So till date i have not experimented much with tomatoes. But this Raw Tomato Chatni made by my mother-in-law ,was so yummy that I instantly fell in love with it. Here comes the recipe:
Ingredients:
- 3-4 Raw Tomatoes (diced)
- 4 Green Chillies
- 1 small katori Curry Leaves
- 2 teaspoons Ground Roasted Peanut
- Salt to taste
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 teaspoon oil for tempering
- Asafoetida
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
Preparation Time: 5-10 mins
Cooking Timr: 5 mins
Serves : 4
Method:
- Heat a teaspoon oil in a pan .Add the diced tomatoes, green chillies and curry leaves and saute for 5 mins.
- Let it cool down .Add ground roasted peanuts, salt and sugar. Grind coarsely.
- Put this mixture in a bowl.
- Heat 1 teaspoon oil in tadka pan . Add a pinch of asafoetida and mustard seeds. Let them splutter then add it to the chutney. Mix well.
- You can serve this chatni with Dosa, Idli , Paratha and also as a spread for a variety of sandwiches.
