Instant Tomato Shorba

Sunday evening....lethargy is at its peak and the mind is obviously thinking about the quick approaching 'Monday morning grind'. Aise main cooking is the last thing on my mind . But hunger doesn't leave you alone and gives constant reminders even when the mind is occupied :-) Was just thinking ki kash koi chamatkar ho jaye aur koi instant ,healthy and tasty food same aa jaye, just then the thought of making this yummylicious Instant Tomato Shorba struck my mind. 
Shorba  is a Moughal name of soup but it is usually thinner than other soups.Another basic difference is that Shorba is bit spicy as compared to other soups but believe me this is something which you are going to like instantly.Take a look at the recipe:

Ingredients
  • 2 cup Tomato Puree (You can use the ready made one or if you have fresh tomatoes, make one at home)
  • 1 small Onion -finely chopped
  • 1 tsp Ginger- Garlic Paste
  • Bay leaf
  • Coriander Powder -1 tspn
  • Cumin Powder- 1 tspn
  • Sugar
  • Garam Masala- 1tspn
  • Salt to taste
Preparation Time: 5 mins

Cooking Time: 10 mins

Serves: 3

Method:
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add Bay leaf, ginger-garlic paste and chopped onion. Saute till the onions become transparent
  • Add coriander powder , garam masala and cumin powder. Keep the flame low
  • Add the tomato puree , sugar and salt .Mix well and cook for 5-7 mins till the raw smell goes away
  • Add 2-3 cups of water and cook till the shorba starts to boil
  • Garnish with chilli flakes (optional) and chopped coriander. Yo can adjust the seasoning as per your liking.


 You can also add boiled pasta to make it more filling. I also added some oregano and the taste was simply awesome. Try this shorba when you don't want to spend too much time in the kitchen and dont even to compromise on the taste. HAPPY COOKING !
