Til Ki Chatni aka Tilkutta

Winter and Snacking go hand in hand. Remember those Revari's, Chikki,Gajak and the lip- smacking til papad. I am sure all of you must have enjoyed these delicacies in winters. Sesame seeds are an integral part of the Indian winters. Come winters and all the grocery stores are packed with whole host of delicacies made of these tiny seeds. These seeds generate heat in the body and thus help in combating cold. This til chatni or commonly known as tilkutta  in maharashtrian households , is not only very simple to make but also simply yummy. It is a perfect accompaniment to Bhakri or even curd rice.Here comes therecipe:

Ingredients:
  • White Sesame seeds -1 cup
  • 4-5 Garlic Cloves
  • 6-7 Kashmiri /Degi Red Chillies
  • 1 tspn Sugar
  • Salt to taste
Preparation Time: 10 mins

Method:
  • Dry roast the sesame seeds  on medium heat till they turn golden brown
  • Let them cool for 5-10 mins
  • Grind the garlic cloves and red chillies
  • Now add the roasted sesame seeds ,salt and sugar. Grind to a coarse powder
And this spicy and delicious chatni is ready . You can also add some roasted peanuts or dry coconut . But its tastes best with the pleasant taste of til seeds only. You can pour some ghee on it and savor with hot Bhakri.
