The moment you say Chaat , all you can think of is crispy pooris, with a topping of tangy chutney, aalu tikkis with mouth watering garnishing and what not.As such chaat is an essential part of the India platter and is relished by people of all age groups . This time i tried this 'Katori/ Basket Chaat' to give a zing to a dull weekend. And believe me , I was so happy with the result and so was everyone in the family. Ragda, Aalu , Sev -all in one crispy bowl. So this becomes a highly recommended one from Zaykedar. Do give it a try:
Ingredients:
- 2 bowls Maida (for the Katori)
- 1 tablespoon Oil
- 2 teaspoons Salt
- 3 Medium Potatoes (boiled and mashed)
- 1 big cup boiled White peas (Vatana)
- 2 medium Onions(finely chopped)
- 2 cup Curds (beaten & smoothed)
- Tamarind Chutney
- Green Chutney
- Zero Sev
- Chopped Coriander
- Chaat Masala
- Oil for Frying
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time : 30 minutes
Serves: 4
Method:
- For the Katori, mix maida, salt and oil . Knead well with water. Keep the dough aside for 20 minutes.
- Take small portion of the dough and roll it into a small poori.
- Take a medium size katori and stick this poori on the katori in such a way that it covers the full outer portion.
- Prick holes all over using a fork so that it doesn't fluff while frying.
- Heat oil in a kadhai and put this 'wrapped katori' in the oil. Fry till the katori separates from the wrap (which now has taken the shape of a katori) and the wrap turns golden brown.
- Make such katori's with rest of the dough and keep them aside to cool down.
- Once all the katori's are ready, put 1 spoon boiled vatana, 1 spoon boiled potato, 1 spoonful beaten curds, tamarind chutney, green chutney , chopped onion , sev , a pinch of chaat masala and chopped Coriander.
- So ,what are you waiting for ?? It's time to Dig-in :-))) Take a look -
