Sprout Kadhi

It feels good to be back..For the past so many weeks, life was busy like never before.Apart from filling home with joy and happiness, festivals keep you busy all the time for no reason. So blogging took a back seat and this recipe of Sprout Kadhi  which i had made some time back, didn't get a chance to get published on the blog.:-))

Kadhi needs no introduction and as such is common in most of the households of the country. Be it the thicker version of north or slightly sweet version of Gujarat or our very own Maharshtrian Kadi, people savor it with the same enthusiasm. Got this idea of adding sprouts from one of the recipes by Tarla Dalal and i instantly gave it a try. Sprouts increase the nutritive value and make this version quite healthy. The best part is that you can not only have it with steamed rice, Khichdi or Fulka but can also relish it wid Daliya to make the meal healthy and light. Take a look at the recipe:

Ingredients:
  • 250 gms Curds
  • 1 small katori fresh Sprouts
  • t tsp Green chilly-Ginger paste
  • 2-3 dried Red Chillies
  • 1 tsp Asafoetida
  • 2-3 tsp Gram flour
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 3-4 Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Salt to taste
Preparation Time: 15 mins

Cooking Time: 10 mins

Serves: 4

Method:
  •  Pressure cook sprouts with 2-3 whistles. Keep them aside.
  • Whisk the curds and besan together. Make sure there are no lumps left.
  • Add 1- 1/2  cup water, salt , ginger-green chilly paste and salt and sugar.Bring to boil.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add asafoetida ,cumin seeds ,fenugreek seeds and red chillies.Let them splutter.
  • Add turmeric powder and and boiled sprouts. Mix well.
  • Add this sprout tadka to the boiled besan- curd mixture.
  • Simmer it for 5-10 mins .
  • Garnish it with finely chopped coriander and serve hot.
