Vermicelli Upma

In the rainy season a lot of people look for healthy breakfast or dinner options to keep the digestive system in check . So i thought of making this Vermicelli Upma which is easy to cook, yummy , healthy and doesn't make your digestive system work hard. Take a look at the recipe:
Ingredients
- 1 cup roasted Wheat Vermicelli /Semiyan
- 1 medium Onion -finely chopped
- 2-3 Green Chillies-finely chopped
- 4-5 Curry leaves
- A pinch of Asafoetida
- 1 teaspoon Oil
- Mustard Seeds
- Salt to taste
- Fresh Coriander-finely chopped
- Roasted Peanuts
Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 10 mins
Serves: 2
Method
- Heat oil in a pan. Add asafoetida and mustard seeds and let them splutter.
- Add curry leaves,green chillies ,onion and roasted peanuts and saute till onion becomes transparent.
- Add 2 cup water and salt. Mix well.
- When the water starts boiling, add vermicelli .
- Cook covered on a medium flame ,stirring occasionally till its done.
- Garnish it with chopped coriander and serve hot with pickle .
You can also add vegetables like carrot , green peas , capsicum etc to enhance the taste and nutritive value. You can increase or reduce the quantity of water depending on the thickness of vermicelli.
